I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what it means to be a good literary citizen — someone who actively engages with, and supports, the literary world.

As writing is a solitary work, I wish there could be more of a sense of community such as you describe. I work in a French newsroom of a public TV and what appals me is the very individualistic behaviour of my colleagues. There are few experienced senior staff who could be mentoring the young people coming in and there is no sense of community. By the way, I don’t find spaces like these in French.
As I found you via Niemans storyboard- which I absolutely love and is a constant source of learning and inspiration- I wish for something similar in my language.
How can you make progress in your art if you haven’t the possibility to explore and exchange in a safe place ? I mean a place where there is no judgement.
Anyway, all you tell us about the process of having your book launched on the shelves of stores is very interesting and informative.
