I’m going to restack this, I love it so much. What amazes me is the connection between our visual input and the interior voice it generates as we read along—and how the author’s artistry is rooted in turning this neuroscience phenomenon into a curated experience for the reader.
Absolutely loved this… I was taught to put a new line in between email lines & it makes such a difference. Also I am absolutely pre ordering your book- thank you for sharing your story 🤍✨
Such good advice (I loved Maggie Smith's book, too). I've started thinking about this recently because of Substack (knowing that many people read newsletters on their phones), so I tend to use much shorter paragraphs here than in other types of writing.
I hadn't thought about the power of white space for covering intense topics—I will definitely keep that in mind for my book as well. Thank you.

Thanks, Oona! I'm glad the piece helped you think about white space in a new way. It's fun to consider all the different ways it can be helpful!
